Social editorial calendar for micro-SMEs: the realistic template
Most editorial calendars suck because they're ambitious: "5 IG + 3 LinkedIn + 2 TikTok posts per day". For a micro-SME without a social media manager, impossible. Here's a REALISTIC 4-week calendar you can actually follow.
Realistic frequency per platform
- LinkedIn (primary B2B channel): 3 posts/week
- Instagram (for service/local): 4-5 posts/week (2-3 Reels)
- Facebook: 2 posts/week — only if you have active community, else skip
- TikTok: 0 unless you've read the guide and the 4 criteria apply
- YouTube: 1 video/month (if you have production capacity)
Weekly template (2 hours of work)
Monday 9-10am — week scheduling:
- Tue: LinkedIn lesson learned (1,000 chars)
- Wed: Instagram Reel + Story
- Thu: LinkedIn controversial take (800 chars)
- Fri: Instagram carousel client/case
- Sat: Instagram Story "week at the office"
Monday 10-11am — content prep for the day + drafts for upcoming.
Monthly (4 extra hours/month)
- Week 1: LinkedIn long-form post (2,500 chars)
- Week 2: 1 "educational" Reel (60 sec)
- Week 3: Newsletter + LinkedIn cross-post
- Week 4: Metrics review, A/B test next format
Total weekly time: 5-7 hours. Sustainable for founder/small team. Anything more requires outsourcing or a dedicated employee.
